Sydney’s Story
Sydney Marie Angle was born on April 15, 2004.  She spent the next 9 {9!} years teaching everyone around her how to live life.  Simpy put, Syd had fun.  She expected to live every moment on HER terms, regardless of how many of us tried to keep her in line.   She was fabulous – a bright shining light for the world to follow if we’d all just look, a perfect example of everything this world needs more of.  She was a dreamer with enough flight in her mind’s wings for two or three little girls.

Syd was a daughter, a sister, a team mate, and a friend to so many.  She liked ribs,veggies and pickles.  She loved music and was always singing and dancing along – even while on the softball field.  She played many positions over the years {oh, i'll bet "she" did}, and was taking lessons to be a pitcher.   She was a ball player and a fan.  She wore #35.  Her daddy got her that number because he’s a Frank Thomas fan, but she kept it because she was a Kevin Durant fan.  The Sooners were her favorite team and Keilani Ricketts was her favorite player.  She was so excited the day she got to meet her after a game at the 2012 World Cup of Softball.

On May 20, 2013, just less than a month after her ninth birthday, she was taken away from us with six of her classmates when a tornado struck Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, OK.  And while the world was robbed of one its most splendid creatures that day, Syd’s friends and family felt a calling of sorts to be sure that her footprint on this world is long lasting.  Less than a month after that horrible day, the softball community from around the country came together for us in ways we could have never foreseen.  Players, coaches, and families from Sydney’s team Bring It ’04 put together a fundraising tournament for us to help in the recovery from the devastation of that day.  And after seeing what all those wonderful people could do in honor of our little girl we knew we needed to find a way to both keep her spirit alive and to share that love that so many had shown us.  The Sydney Angle Memorial Foundation was born.
