Hello all, and Loohan, nice to see you starting a new forum. So I am wondering about eating meat... Is there negative effects on your energy if you consume meat? Also I have heard wheat ( and all grains) should be avoided as well?

It's probably just me, but I do much better if I limit grain consumption to about 5 servings weekly, and meat to about 2 or 3. I would love to be vegan, but my body just can't seem to process iron from non-animal sources. So I limit myself, and try to eat no more than one cow every 5 years or so. I figured that one cow is one soul, so it's not as bad as eating half a fried chicken every day!
The thing that I *REALLY* can't eat is sugar or high fructose corn syrup.

I used to be vegan for many years, and lacto-ovo for many years. Problem is, where u gonna get calories from if not animals? Many of the choices i made were worse than high quality animal food: dried fruit, peanut butter, wheat, soy...
I now have not eaten soy for like 13 years, wheat and other glutenous grains for 3 years +. Wheat is very bad news. I actually pretty much entirely quit wheat in '96, but continued to eat less toxic grains like sourdough spelt bread. Nonetheless i still had some symptoms (mostly upper back/shoulder aches) and started getting a bit of psoriasis every winter.
Then i quit grains entirely and for the last 3 winters, no more psoriasis. The only grain i will eat is a few mouthfuls of rice when visiting my mom.
In the summer i never desire meat except maybe a small amount of fish occasionally (generally canned sardines because i don't have a fishing scene together). But as soon as the weather gets cold, i crave poultry. I still can't stand beef.
I don't find that eating high quality eggs, milk, poultry or fish has adverse effect on me. I even eat lamb chops on rare occasions when visiting my mom, but am leery becasue of the vaccines they probably get.

Supposedly you should eat for your blood type. Sometimes health food stores will carry a set of small books for each one. Some people need the meat. Others should stay away.
I personally think you should examine your teeth to see what foods they're made for eating. Not entirely sure, but I think if you have more or less canine teeth than you should pay attention to that. Just an opinion not research. Could be bogus.
I personally feel healthier and nutritionally satisfied for a whole week after eating meat, but it also lowers my vibes for the duration of digestion, but then again I experience that after every large meal. No wonder fasting leads to spiritual experiences faster in my experience. You are what you eat.
I haven't detected a drop in mental ability with fish consumption. So must just be red meats.. For me. I try to lean on vegetables more..
Also when I eat high vibed alive food like fruits and vegetables I crave meat less and less.
Taking a vegetable based Enzyme supplement helps a lot for catalyzing food break down. I highly recommend it. Taking them on an empty stomach has noticeably reduced scars on my skin.
There's a guy called David Wolfe on YouTube that raves about how avocados can replace meat to a degree. Just paraphrasing.. I don't know his credentials, though he raves about all kinds of things.

Lundberg Family Farms Organic Brown Long or Short Grain Rice is excellent. iHerb.com is my source.
I have read that all American rice has high levels of arsenic. Also Lundberg has been infiltrated by CIA satanist SSers, and who knows what they might be doing to it. I have also read that white rice is actually safer than brown. I don't mind a small amount of imported white Basmati on occasion.

The last time i tried millet i found it aggravated my Vata strongly, so i quit eating it. Of course, not everyone has excess Vata to begin with.

Hemp and pea protein seem like a good alternative to meats as far as protein goes. I love cheeses, milk, and yogurt too, however I am not sure of the quality of most of these products, I am pretty sure pasteurization is a bad thing... Maybe Legumes, and Potatoes/Sweet Potatoes would be a better choice over grains? Also I like using psyllium husk to add to each of my meals to get a good fiber intake at a cheaper price...

Hempseed protein is great stuff, and one can get a lot of mileage out of it.
I was reading something bad about field peas the other day; like they use a lot of bad insecticides on it or something. Was it Roundup to dry the peas up in the field?
Oryzatein is organic brown rice protein that is pretty good. And the containers are very useful:

All things being equal (and all things being equally subject to tainting or evil influences), I eat what makes me feel good, and what helps to keep my lupus in remission, and what helps me to keep my weight within the normal range (as I used to be significantly overweight, and I am now half as large as I used to be).
I am suspicious of commercial "organic" products which are produced by conglomerate-owned brands, but you have to eat something, and otherwise I can get prone to worrying too much about the provenance of my foods.
So I try to stick to organic produce and meat/dairy which has been raised by people that I know. This is a little easier because I work in a farm market, and I know the farmers. I try to keep things very basic: fruit, vegetables, nuts, beans, a little bit of grain, a little bit of dairy and meat.
I try to follow the rule that "if it comes from a plant, eat it. If it is made in a plant, don't." I can't say that I am the picture of radiant health, but changing my eating habits away from the standard American diet helped me to walk away from hospice (in multiple organ failure due to lupus, and diagnosed with less than 6 months to live) and to resume an active life for the first time in 30 years.
My rheumatologist still thinks I'm a lunatic. She won't admit that I healed myself through healthier eating because "nutrition has nothing to do with autoimmune illness", and has said darkly that when I become sick again after this "unexplained remission", that she will not take me back as a patient. Which is fine with me.

What brands do you use/recommend of these products and any others you might use? I will grab a few containers of Oryzatein, and i might just throw out the rest of the pea protein I have... If only I had a few goats and cows to make my own dairy products sigh...

Your pea protein is not necessarily very tainted but i read that some is.
I have tried whey powder but it does not satiate me at all like hemp protein does. I cd probably take 3 days' worth of whey powder in one milk drink and still be hungry.

Ah thanks, I will check those sites out... Whey protein doesn't really do it for me either, Hemp has fiber, EFA, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, Potassium, and a good amino acid profile. Whey just gives me gas and cost too much for the quality you get. You could probably live off of Hemp seed with nothing else. Ha.... It's unfortunate that all the goodness of animal products like cheese, milk, and what not are ruined with pasteurization and factory farming. Otherwise I think they would be a very very good staple for protein and what not. Regardless I can barely resist buying cottage cheese at the grocery store, pasteurized or not... ugh.

I def agree that each individual's needs are different. I've had to do years of trying out foods to see what works. Still am. But one thing that has helped me tons is realizing that i (like Loohan) have excessive Vata. To balance this, i include sweet heavy foods (especially this time of year) like bananas, sweet potatoes, raw honey, and jaggery. Jaggery is solid raw sugar made from sugar cane (traditionally palm sap or dates) with the juice boiled out. The OPPOSITE of the evaporated cane juice they often sell as "organic sugar". And i really do enjoy my basmati, imported is best, I agree :-) Also really appreciate those suggestions of non-DORy food companies to buy from online. I tend to undereat because of what I have for food choices, coupled with residual skepticism from my old conspiracy theorist days. Doesn't help that my neighborhood health food co-op's name is Mariposa (butterfly in spanish, for those who know of Project Monarch haha!). They have slowly been replacing a lot of my organic staples, especially the bulk stuff, with "conventional" or "local" (equals gmo IMO, unless otherwise specified). No thanks. But hey... it could be a lot worse. I've lived in places where there are no health food stores and no non-gmo options at all. And wow THANKS for confirming that about Lundberg Family Farms! Had a feeling about them just last week.
