100-year old? Pretty slow-growing for such a moist and fecund spot.
Compare sizes with the blades of grass. A couple of these do like like real stumps. Some of the others could be medium-sized logs set too closely together. What may have happened is that trees were cut down maybe 15 years ago and some stumps re-sprouted with multiple leaders. That COULD explain a fraction of this. But if you look lower left, they don't hide that they stacked short logs on top of each other.
Probably they cut down a couple trees less than 20 years old, and cut some of the limbs into short pieces and placed them around.

I need to come up with a shorter term to label these with. How about Lite TH? Yeah, henceforth i will call them Lite THs. This is a bit awkward too, as there are shades of grey in between, and all these new, tougher RCs have a bit of TH-y vibe. But now almost all RC actors and gang-stalkers are at least Nouveau RC, so i will not use this term unless they stand out more in terms of TH vibe.
