    Lowell Houser, 60, was employed as a Chicago police officer when he fatally shot Jose Nieves, 37, while off-duty on January 2, 2017
    The pair - who were known to one another - became embroiled in an argument, and Houser claims he shot Nieves in self-defense
    Houser was charged with second-degree murder over the incident last December
    On Monday he was sentenced to 10 years behind bars, but could be out of custody in as little as two years

'Satanist' Kansas soldier who told undercover FBI agent 'he wanted to blow up CNN and kill Beto O'Rourke' pleads guilty to bomb plot charges
    Jarrett William Smith, 24,  was arrested last September for providing information about explosives to an undercover FBI agent
    The soldier told another FBI agent before his arrest that his goal was to create 'chaos' and overthrow the government
    He has now plead guilty to distributing information through social media about building a bomb and making napalm
    He faces up to 20 years in prison and will be sentenced in May

Four white high school students in Michigan sue the school district after being suspended for posting racial slurs against black students on social media
    The lawsuit, filed Tuesday, alleges that district officials have violated the first amendment rights of the white students
    School officials suspended the white students after they used the 'N' word and white supremacy statements in a Snapchat group in January
