What is that, a brick with a wire handle, hooked to an elastic slingshot?
No, those are fingers forming the V of the "slingshot". So it is a sling.
I don't see how the brick would release. One end of the string would catch on the handle.

I used to fool around with that sort of sling decades ago. They can hurl some good-sized rocks but i doubt a brick would travel far.
In any case, this V formation is not an ergonomic way to hold these.
