The Flathead Indian Reservation, located in western Montana on the Flathead River, is home to the Bitterroot Salish, Kootenai, and Pend d'Oreilles Tribes - also known as the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Nation. Google is honouring one of Canada's greatest runners - First Nations marathon record-setter Tom Longboat.

The search engine giant's "Google Doodle" on Monday celebrated the 131st birthday of the runner who received global acclaim after setting the 1907 world record at the Boston Marathon.

Longboat, from Ontario's Six Nations reserve, also served as a dispatch carrier in France during World War One.

He was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 1955.

The Onondaga athlete was born 4 June 1887, and was one of thousands indigenous children in Canada to be separated from their families and forced into a state-run education in the country's residential school system.

Longboat, rebelling against being forced to speak English and to abandon his indigenous beliefs in favour of Christianity, ran away.

These people, said to have left Africa 50,000 years ago, are related to Australia’s Aborigines, the Onge people of India’s Andaman Islands, and Papua New Guineans.

Dr Reich and his colleagues have also identified Australoid genetic motifs in the indigenous Mixe people of the eastern Highlands of Mexico’s Oaxaca state.

They are not suggesting that the Amazonian and Oaxaca are the direct descendants of Australoids; rather, they suggest that later Amerindians colonists interbred with the descendants of an earlier wave Australoid colonists they have dubbed “Population Y”.

I think this is a rare true story. Maybe not in all details -- was the correct explanation suggested for the reason for the sacrifices?
I speculate that the kids were gang-raped and tortured to death, as that would be in line with known COTHS ritual norms.

Gabriel Prieto, a professor of archaeology from the National University of Trujillo, said: 'This number of children, this number of animals—it would have been a massive investment on behalf of the state.'

This is the only mention of animals in the article.

The children were part of the Chimu civilization which disappeared in 1475 after it was conquered by the Inca empire.

The Inca were Egyptoid too. Real conflict or hoax? I would guess real although it may be that many Chimu women and children may have been subsumed into the Incan population.
