HOWTO survive an EMP

well it's a bit of paranoid stuff but....with all the crazyness and fear ramping up... for the next months... here a guide in case a nuke will fire up in the sky and cause a big EMP.
An EMP is an electromagnetic impulse that will fry most of the electronics. don't ask me for details, ask google!

This event will fry all the electricity lines, and if multiple nukes are fired around the world to shutdown the world, we will go by candles at night. Since the transformers will be out and the factory that makes them too... it will be like some years to go back to normal status...
None really know what will work after an EMP. Nobody really experienced it.

The best is to have some stuff under a faraday cage earthed. Best will be a box double/triple shielded with aluminium foil, or really better a metal box.

here some stuff I will put inside.
-- a 12V battery, I would say at least a 30Ah up to like half the size of your box. charge it before storing it! and remember of the 3% of auto discharge in a year for lead acid batteries. as well as the usefull amperage is half the nominal one of the battery, and the maximum is the nominal used in one hour. So to not damage the battery, you have to use it from 30ah nominal down to 15ah, exceding this can damage it. So you can use 15 Ah withouth damaging it.
you can add some small 7Ah 12v batteries for lighting 12v light bulbs.

-- a solar panel. even a 20W or a couple of 20W, depending again on size. To recharge the battery. The sun will probably be the only available source.

storing a gasoline generator and some liter of gasoline/diesel whatever... if you have space, but it will be like to end soon the gas anyway... it can help if you think you will need high demand of electricity for some times...

-- a radio. it will probably be the only one comunication device that will be able to work. point to point... so maybe a couple of radios... even cheap walkie talkie can do their work in emergency. Anyway a full frequency radio to listen...

-- a laptop with stored inside what you think can be useful. doesn't need to be powerfull or very recent, even an old 1 ghz with windows 98 will be fine. again small one is better, size matters. Of course powersupply of it. Test it before storing.

-- an inverter to use from 12v to 110/220VAC

-- some rechargeable 9V batteries with chargers... for walkie talkie or other little stuff that you will put inside as well.
-- 12v light bulbs. Light will be missing of course and candles will not last forever, we're speaking of at least 1 year of shutdown. 12v because they consume less than 110/220v bulbs used through an inverter. an inverter does add 10% consumption.

-- a geiger counter can be helpful to keep the panic down. if you have one....
I don't know if cheap geiger counter attached to a rasberry pi will be usefull... something like that
   http://makezine.com/2013/06/12/rpi-geiger-counter/

what else?
so far this is my list.

I'm gonna prepare the box...

Re: HOWTO survive an EMP

You know, all this September business led me to an interesting experience tonight...

I'd heard Loohan mention this "September 2015" issue being talked up on some alternative news outlets. And reading that, I felt nothing. Just seemed like empty silliness, whims of our opposition. But for whatever reason, seeing Anturio here talk about it felt different. It weighed on my mind for most of today. Wondering, what would I do if all circuits in the world were fried? I started thinking preparations, making plans.

After work, I had an hour to myself to walk home and consider this event. Why does it suddenly weigh so much heavier? I decided to investigate "September 2015" as a target. That is, as if it were an entity unto itself. Surprisingly, I found myself immersed in some immense energy! It didn't feel bad, strangely... it felt like simple neutral energy. Though I should mention, my intention was to have ALL my devices and giftings, and the Earth involved with those giftings, work together in a process to transmute any found energy into usable, positive energy. So if your experiences differ, this could be why.

In any case, it felt like I was able to deplete it of some potency. It didn't feel so bad anymore, to contemplate this month of the year.

It almost makes me think I could make this "September 2015" energy field into a program of sorts. Perhaps for crystal/metal, don't know about resin...

In any case, I feel there's a collusion of intentions and energies pooling into this month, and I feel like it can be monkeywrenched. What do you guys think?

Re: HOWTO survive an EMP

I think september can just be a time when a lot of energies will come to earth through space, seems a lot of sources are telling this story... and I suspect the usual rats are doing their best to create fear or whatever because *maybe* they can die with all these energies?  and to lock the energies down to their use they need something big like another 911 or worse something global....

it's just around the corner we will see...  I'm doing the emp box because anyway i have some stuff in advance that fits well, it's like an assurance box :-)

also the economic collapse is one of the thing that can happen...

unsure still if electrical stuff gets affected even not plugged into the grid. That must mean that some hefty punch of energy and anybody exposed to it will be fried too..!  surely there must be some detrimental effects to this pulse to a living organism..?

even not plugged into the grid, mostly all electronics with transistors will be fry, due to NP junction inside that will be gone...
I don't know how to protect a car, probably it will be best to have a copy of the electronics and candles etc... not sure! just wondering... probably old cars will be easy to recover.

for the living organism health. it will be like a radioactive problem too so.... I would suggest to research howto have clean water after a fall out!
so again my thoughts goes to a geiger counter...
I will probably get one of this, plus a tube for  α, β and γ...

again, all of this is just to sleep better :-) Probably nothing like that will happens!

Re: HOWTO survive an EMP

the only think that I get if I meditate on september 2015 is the face of the Pope... no idea what...!

I've read in the past that a lot of american millionaries are going to live in new zealand..
it's an island, so I would expect that no cataclismic event is gonna happen, so no increase of sea due to metorites or what ever..
maybe it's for some kind of laws that does not apply in new zealand? extradictions? no idea..

Re: HOWTO survive an EMP

Do you remember y2K?  I think that was the phrase that was used,  the computers were going to shut down and would in effect send our society into pandemonium. Lots of hype not really taken seriously by most but i did,   I so believed that chaos was a real possible scenario. i had my friends involved , we had meetings of who was doing what and what we needed etc.  i do remember being the only frantic one, with lots of laughing it was like trying to organise a litter of puppies,  and looking back now wow i don't think we would have been successful in the survival stakes.

Speaking of which, this topic has sent me in a tail spin.  the guilt of not being ready is pretty shit.   i'm trying to think of a way to protect my vechicle, my safe destination is easy 40-50 kms away.  I came across a canvas annax for a caravan, I thought i could line the inside of it with al. foil, tape it down and cover the whole car?  Does that sound worth doing?  And would the bare ground be an issue?

love to hear your savy ideas

Re: HOWTO survive an EMP

@bruce, the idea is to foil with aluminium those stuff that you want to safe.
I believe the ground cable is needed, but some one on the net says that just foiling stuff will be enough. I prefer to use ground.

foiling the entire car will be very difficult with aluminium foil, since it break easily....
but then you need to have 2 car for living, one foiled and the other one not, to use every day smile
maybe easy to get a electric bycicle and foil the electronics...

bycicle will be a nice thing to have in such an event... here where I live is so full of hills that I don't think to use it but who knows!

Re: HOWTO survive an EMP

Thanks ndw,  totally agree that bikes are the standby, personally i have no worries riding that far pleased that i don't have to contend with  hilly terrain as well.  my kids on the other hand.. it  might mean stretching the trip out, i have one on training wheels.   Frankly i would rather a pin in my eye than have to think about this, but i can't shake the feeling.  So i will give it my best shot.  trying as usual to go undercover with all this stuff perhaps a really good prep lesson in itself.   i had a dream a good 6 months ago, that jumped straight away to my attention, at the start of all this.

it started with me sitting in my car waiting at the intersection, it looked like i was off to work for an afternoon shift.   I noticed the air was thick, heavy and smokey it looked like the height of bushfire season,   I looked out over the horizon towards the hills and noticed a thick dark grey arc across the sky with it being hot white as it touched the horizon.  I immediately knew what it was and thought well this is it, nothing will be the same.  what was interesting was this sequence looked like a snap shot of the future  nothing surreal,  the next sequence was and  not familiar surroundings at all.  it was  a inner city l/scape,  i was  hiding out with others in a building (who i just managed to convince)  to lay low, as the sirens and military were in the streets ordering people out of their homes,    I woke up wondering what the arc was at the time and had the feeling it was significant.  it could mean something or nothing, but it has stayed with me for over a week now.

now getting back to the grounding i think i can do the aluminium with lots of tape, and i can potentially cover one car don't know if my husband will be convinced of an impending emp situation but i'll cross that bridge when it's done, as for the grounding with what and attached to what,, totally ignorant of anything electrical and i do apologise.

i did manage to get some more resin so my thoughts are more PRG, water charging pgm, MarchB 2015 and some Earthy pgm.

Re: HOWTO survive an EMP

usually a good ground should be the water pipe. the electricity system usually is the center pin of the electric socket.

the other problem is, if they will fire another EMP after the 1st, to destroy the items that we will put out of the faraday cage to use...
So I should say, use the items when you need and place them again in faraday cage after use...

well I'm really a paranoid one smile
I'm really sorry to have put fear on you guys, and I hope that this event will never happen!
