To get a forum account you need to send a brief presentation email to loohanforum at gee mail dot com, also suggesting a user name. Then we can enable you manually. But before you even do that, take a look around the forum and my site and decide whether you REALLY WANT to join/post, before you jack us around. Most seemingly genuine people who apply fail to even ever log in once to change their password after we go through the work of creating a membership for them. Then we must quickly delete their account again lest the CIA has intercepted their temporary password. And of the few who do change their password, most still never post. Maybe they realize we are too weird for them, I don't know. They get real quiet, never to be heard from again.

Pgms still viable?
Last week was my first pour this year. I finally had some time and a few extra dollars come into alignment . My husband took the kids away over the easter break, I did have to work but it did mean i had 3 mornings and 2L of resin up my sleeve. I was quietly super excited and counting down the days. The resin has not set and it is now day 7. I have not had the resin take this long before. I haven't done it in such bad weather either. It has rained this whole bloody week and the temp has dropped significantly. I may have missed the last of the good autumn weather. I am concerned the pgms are not viable are they still worth hanging on to? I cannot bring them inside my husband will flip his wig if he were to discover that i have used his nana's ancient baking dish to get the ring for the MarchB pgm. At the moment they are all incognito in the kids cubby house still guey- ish. I have not dowsed them myself yet actually... really curious to see what i make of them. will definitely do this tomorrow. Hopeful for some feedback.

so the resin is still soft?
I think only heat can help you...
try boiled water under them... but I think the ring is maybe too big for this job..

Yeah, sounds like you shoulda put in a bit more catalyst. You got to keep it warm for a while somehow, which is tough if the weather is cold and the resin is stinky.
The programming should be fine though.

That was my first thought, the catalyst.. it might be a couple of years old is it possible for it to loose it's effectiveness i wonder..
Brilliant idea with the boiling water. I did that and had a right sauna happening in the c/ house. Today clear skies and much warmer, so this afternoon when checking I was pleased that it was lovely and warm in there. Still guey. Really tempted to add some different catalyst, what do you think?

I haven't used polyester resin since '03 except for a few qts. I used some catalyst that was 2-3 years old with no problem. I think i may have read that it can go bad, tho.
The amount used has to be adjudicated according to size of pour and temperatures of environment and resin. Also some additives can cause it to heat up more.
I do not know if smearing more on top of the piece will do anything good.
If nothing else, it will harden up after several years :-)
I have a piece someone sent me in '07 which still had a smeary surface even though he'd had it a couple years. It remained gooey for years. But now it is completely cured.

once I've used an hair dryer to heat the resin.
Although it emits DOR, Loohan confirmed that it does not interfere with programming. But I will try first boiled water and a bit of catalyst...
