I just realized that many modems these days emit 5G by default. Of course it is usually possible to deactivate it for those few who do not desire the "benefits" but no doubt most people leave it on. Another good reason to avoid populated areas.
Windstream sent me one like that, but every time you disabled the wifi, it came back on a minute later! I returned it.

I was helping a RC retard I know buying a new Router recently, and not only is it next to impossible to find one without wireless crap, but now, when you try to enter the setup screen (in the Router), it is no longer in the firmware/bios in the Router, but is stored on their servers (Asus in this case, but it goes for all of them).
