Shades of transhumanism in "ordinary" repticlones?

Kind of hard to discern precisely, but i think the reason the most recent wave of "ordinary" repticlones is so much tougher is because they carry a bit of the same mysterious tech as we see in the latest wave of non-metallic THs. I have been getting this impression for many weeks.
And some feel a bit more TH than others.
