Half a century ago i was able to see a concert with the likes of Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Santana, etc for around $5 a pop. Of course gas was around $0.32 a gallon, too. Still, it is amazing how more inflation has hit the concert market.

And that $5 sometimes got you 2 or 3 big-name bands in one concert. And the venues? I was into Deep Purple, saw them 3X. The first, 1972, was in the plush, still fairly new Kennedy Center in DC, which had huge organs built into the back of the stage! Deep Purple was heavy into organ music. The 2nd time was in '73 at the Baltimore Civic Auditorium, i think it was called. Rory Gallagher opened for them. In 1974 it was in the Orange Bowl in Miami, together with the J Geils Band...
Now you pay megabucks for crappy modern music. If it doesn't get canceled without refund or something.
