While there were several questions raised over the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, one that was left unanswered until now was the mystery of host Morgan Freeman's single glove...

Viewers would have noticed the 85-year-old acting veteran wearing a single beige-coloured glove as he put on an act to launch the controversial tournament.   

It is actually a compression glove and Freeman has been wearing it on and off since paralysing his left hand in a car crash 14 years ago.

His hand sustained severe nerve damage and the compression glove is used to keep blood flowing.
