The way the tip is twisted into a representation of a candle wick suggests there is some significance to a cross candle. Especially as they show up in at least 2 media outlets simultaneously.
Googling the term, i see such things exist but do not resemble these in shape, as it is not ergonomically suited to supporting wax.
