Jungreis was born in Szeged, Hungary, in 1936, where her father was chief rabbi. A child survivor of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, she and her family resettled in 1947 in Brooklyn, where she married her distant cousin, Rabbi Meshulem HaLevi Jungreis, according to the Yeshiva World. She and her husband, who died in 1996, founded the North Woodmere Jewish Center/Congregation Ohr Torah on Long Island in 1964.

Jungreis, known universally by the honorific rebbetzin, founded Hineni in 1973 in order to bring young Jews closer to Orthodox Judaism by offering Torah classes, singles events, and Shabbat and holiday services. She spoke to audiences across the United States, including at Madison Square Garden in 1973.

Almitra is a person i knew personally in 1992-3 in Bellingham, WA. In 1992 i started suddenly becoming aware of the energies of stones. I also had a lot of health issues (from being poisoned by the NSA in '88 as well as poisoning myself with lots of soy, wheat, cheap megavitamins, etc.). I mentioned to my acupuncturist that i suddenly was drawn to crystals, and he said "Oh, you have to meet Almitra; she's a great crystal expert".

She had a crystal store called The Central Sun, and over time i bought lots of rocks from her, and had a few healilng sessions, too. She had studied under Serge King (a Huna guy who seems legit) and she did have psychic vision.
I never suspected she was a he until recently.
She claimed to have 4 past lives as a priestess or something in Lemuria.

When i met her, she was married to this creepy little "guy" whose last name was Zion. I actually went out to their place to do some tree trimming. I was an experienced tree trimmer and was working, instead of for money in this case, for retail credit (which i spent on rocks and a couple healing sessions).
I had to take the ferry from the Lummi Reservation to Lummi Island, where they lived. Since there was no map of the island, and she was at work in town, her "husband" was to pick me up at the ferry port.
I called him when i landed on the island, and it took him 40 minutes to get there, despite being only a couple miles away, if that.
And he was rude, obnoxious, insulting, and even threatening, right off the bat. Nasty-ass little human FTM.

Not long after, they separated as he was just too nasty, even to her. (This all gives insight that not all these darkside human trannies are full-time actors; evidently they can have genuine interpersonal conflicts among themselves.)

Our friendship eventually soured. In 1992 i had given her a wheatgrass juicer with the proviso that she was going to be growing wheatgrass, and i could come by sometimes for some free juice. But she never kept her end of the deal; never grew any that i knew of.
In early '93 i moved into a place where i could grow trays of wheatgrass. So i asked for the juicer back. She did give it back (minus the handle which she had lost and which cost $20 to replace). But she was so rancid about having to return it that from that point on i might not have spoken to her much anymore. She just exuded indignation and resentment on a non-verbal level.

Later i realized she had ripped me off various ways. Once in '92 she was going to a big gem show and i asked her to get me an obsidian ball, maybe worth around $40. She came back with a big one (which i suspect she paid around 40 for if that) but since i was a newbie to buying stones, she told me she paid 100, and i didn't need to buy it if i didn't want. But she also said it was an amazingly good price, and i could probably sell it for $800.
So i bought it, but later saw big obsidian spheres in stores in other states, and realized she had charged me full retail value on that.
I spent a lot of student loan and Pell Grant money on her stuff.

She also had a crystal book out back then. The appendix in back (on properties of various stones) was plagiarized word-for-word from a much more popular book, Healing Stoned.
